Reverend Kathleen D. Korb

Reverend Katy Korb

The Reverend Kathleen Damewood Korb (Katy) is a native Floridian, born in St. Petersburg. She was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister on June 10, 1979. Her education includes a Masters of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School and a BA from Stetson University (English major). Rev. Korb came here from the Community UU Church in New Orleans, where she had been since March, 1986. Previous congregations served were at Sharon, Massachusetts; New London, Connecticut; and Farmington Hill, Michigan.

About her theological orientation she said: "I am a non-theist humanist who believes that our lives become meaningful in our response to the transcendent call to justice, truth, love, compassion, beauty and other such values." On the value of Religious Education: "Our youth are the future of our free religion and it is important that they gain an understanding of their heritage and tradition as well as of our responsible approach to living in the world, our emphasis on the integrity of the mind and spirit and our respect for other people, other faiths and the environment." Her greatest assets are perhaps an inquiring mind and the ability to communicate her insights to those who seek truth in the confusion of today’s world.
